One Month!

Wow!  I can't believe that Caden is already one month old!! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital!   He has grown so much in the last month!  

He had his one month appointment a little early, but already surpassed what she wanted to see him gain for weight! YAY!  Here are his stats:

Weight: 9 lbs, 12oz  Height: 21 in

Things does now:

Sleeps in his crib in his own room!

Loves his swing and the birdies on the mobile!

 Holds his bottle and his pacifier.

Holds his head up (and makes some pretty great facial expressions!)

Tummy time lover!

We decided to take his "monthly pictures" on his chevron blanket with his monster stuffed animal.  He wasn't cooperating with us this day :)

First Road Trip

Last week Amy finished her last final for the semester.  Caden helped Mom with late night study sessions!

 After finals were over, we took Caden to Des Moines- his first big road trip! He did really well on the car ride to Des Moines (slept the whole way!)

 Grandma and Grandpa spoiled Caden all weekend.  Grandpa even changed some diapers!  They watched Caden all day Saturday so Mom and Dad could go to a wedding in Mason City!

 Caden had such a fun weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's that he was sad to go home!

Bathtime is now fun!

Lets just say Caden's first bath was not an enjoyable experience...for anyone!  He screamed the whole time and for about 30 minutes after! 

We double-teamed him to try to make it more efficient...but he still thought it was horrible!

Fast forward three weeks later and Caden is LOVING his baths!  We were using blankets in the water to make him warmer but he prefers to be naked! 

 Looks like he is thinking about taking a nap in the bath!

 After bath time he loves snuggling with Dad!  Ususally he goes right to sleep and stays sleeping for a LONG time!

Well...we are off to Des Moines for Caden's first road trip!  Thought we would leave you with this picture of Caden during tummy time!

Caden meets Charlie!

Caden...meet Charlie!
Charlie is our 1-year-old Chocolate Lab and our first baby! :)  Charlie is very spoiled by Matt so we were concerned with how Charlie would react to the new baby.  When Amy was pregnant, Charlie even made sure to avoid the nursery!

Turns out, Charlie is actually warming up nicely to Caden.
This is when we first got home from the hospital and Charlie is checking out Caden.

One night, when we were getting ready for bed, Matt put Caden up on the bed to get his rocker.  Charlie jumped up and put his head right next to Caden.  By the time we could get a picture, he moved over to Matt's spot.

We think Charlie is going to make a great big brother and play-mate for Caden!

The last 3 weeks!

Wow, what a busy three weeks it has been!  This little man sure has us wrapped around his little finger, and Aunt Katie, Grandma, and Grandpa's too!
We were discharged when Caden was one day old.  Of course he went home in a Bears outfit.

We were so excited to introduce Caden to our other boy, Charlie! :)

The first few days were filled with feeding Caden, more feeding, and feeding!  In fact, Caden gained weight so well that he reached his birth weight after 3 days of being home!

Caden Lee Yuska

Hello from the Yuska's!
We wanted to start this blog to share Caden's pictures and happenings with our friends and family!

Matt and I found out we were pregnant right before an anniversary trip to Las Vegas!  What a surprise!
We let Charlie handle telling our friends and family!

At our 20 week ultrasound, November 29th, we found out that Baby Yuska, or as Matt likes to call him, "Frank" was a boy!  I believe Matt actually did a fist pump in the ultrasound room!  Of course, this was only the beginning of Matt picking out Hawkeye jersey onesies, Under Armor "jumpsuits", and Chicago Bears accessories!

After a fairly easy last two trimesters, I started having awful pain in my left leg while on the treadmill at 38 weeks.  By 39 weeks I was pretty much on bed rest and miserable.  Our OB scheduled us to be induced Thursday, April 18th.  

Caden had plans of his own!  While packing for the hospital, I started having contractions.  By 7pm, my contractions were very close together and painful.  Matt, meanwhile, instead of packing for the hospital and helping me, was vacuuming and sweeping the house!  I finally got him out of the house and to the hospital by 9pm!

My water broke at 1am Friday morning and Caden Lee was born April 19, 2013 at 6:09am.
