Christmas with Caden

Caden was the perfect age this year for Christmas  (Non-mobile) Ha!  He loved looking at the Christmas tree and touching all Grandma's pretty ornaments.

On the 26th, we opened presents with Matt's side of the family.  Unfortunately Caders didn't feel good and had a temperature of 102!  We managed to get a quick smile out of him next to his buddy!

Now we are back home and Christmas season is over- boy did it go fast.  Matt and I were talking today and think that Caden has changed so much in the last two weeks.  He now giggles ALL the time.  Especially when Daddy and him play airplane.  His other form of communication is grunting.  He sits and plays with toys all by himself and still hold his bottle all by himself.  He prefers all table foods- bananas, meat, beans, mashed potatoes.  You name it and Caden will eat it!  No more baby foods- he gets angry when trying to feed him baby food with a spoon!  What a stinker...
He weighs 21 pounds now and wears 9 month clothes- big boy!
He is so much fun- I think both of our favorite moments are getting him from naps or when he wakes in the morning.  He is so happy to see you and has the biggest grin on his face.
What a great year this has been for us- Have a great New Year!

2013 Part 2

Caden loved helping us put up the Christmas tree this year.  We have Grandpa and Grandma Wetsch's old Christmas tree (fake) and he loves feeling the bristles.

One of my very favorite baby shower gifts was this North Face snow suit from Jenna and Brenda Ness.  It is PERFECT size for him this winter and keeps him so warm.  Aunt Katie calls it his Grover Suit.  The best part is that he doesn't mind putting it on at all!

Ok, so I just had to post this picture.  This is Matt's first grade picture!  Isn't he adorable?  Maybe this is what our Caders will look like?

We had to go get a SECOND hair cut before Christmas!  He does so well with them- just watches TV at Sports Clips!

The week before Christmas, I got a call from daycare saying that Cader's had a temperature of 102!  Poor guy- I went to pick him up and he was lethargic and breathing very heavy.  I took him to the clinic where they diagnosed him with walking pneumonia.  After 6 albuterol breathing treatments we took him home.  A half hour later he started vomiting and got really dehydrated.  We took him in the the ER and he was admitted to the general pediatric unit for dehydration.  He did really well with the pokes and even slept in their crib after getting all tucked in!  We found out later that he also had RSV, or Respiratory Syncytial Virus.  After about 24 hours of IV fluids and some sleep he was much better.

Aunt Katie came to visit and snuggle all morning!

Santa and Mrs. Claus even made their visit (This just happened to be Cader's first time visiting Santa!)

Daddy and Caders playing on the iPad.

Since he was contagious, he couldn't go to daycare the rest of the week.  We are so lucky Caden has an awesome Grandma who is willing to come up anytime!  Grandma Sue watched him the rest of the week and he was back to himself!

Long overdue update!- Part 1

Hello Family and Friends!!  Sorry for the delay in blog updates!!  Caders is such a busy little man!  It is hard to believe that he is already 8 months old!
Hope everyone had a great holiday season!  It was so much fun spending time with family.  We were fortunate to be able to spend lots of time back in Des Moines with Amy's family.
Anyways- back to November where I last left off!

At 6 months, Caden really started showing us how big his appetite is!  From the start, we have fed him 3 meals plus around 30 ounces of milk! He never turns down food.  We make all our own food so we have had fun experimenting with different combinations.  His favorites are Avocado, Bananas, Peaches, Pears, and Sweet Potatoes.   That little stinker has also developed a new way to show us foods he doesn't like.  Whenever we try green beans or peas, he gags himself!
"I love Avocado!"

In November, we celebrated Mom's (Amy's) 26th birthday! Aunt Katie took us to the new cupcake shop, Scratch, to celebrate.  Caden may have taken a bite of Aunt Katie's cupcake...shhh! Don't tell Dad!

Caden is getting to be very independent.  He holds his own bottle all the time.  (Sometimes even palms it!)

Look out- new driver!

He has gotten so good at sitting up by himself- he loves to stack toys!

Lunch with Dad!

This little ham loves sleeping on his side now.

In the beginning of December we went out to visit Matt's grandma, Dolores.  She made an excellent meal for us and it was great to see her.

The start of the sippy cup....  (to be continued)  He is not really loving this.  We have not made friends with this device yet! :)

New Choo chop pjs from grandma Sue!

Caden 6 mo and Family Pictures

These are Caden's 6 month pictures!  We took them a little late because we did them in Des Moines at Water Works Park.  Caden did not want to smile :)
